About Truman
Husband of 30 years, extremely proud father to two amazing children and a bonus son, now young adults launched on their own paths. Hopefully that will lead back home to Park County! Rufus, our super sweet dog, is happiest when everyone is home.
I am completely energized by my family's support of this campaign.
We live about a mile upriver from where my father taught me to fly fish 40-plus years ago, and where I taught my own kids. I'm fortunate to have as my backyard, the ridges and ravines where I have hunted, hiked, fished, four-wheeled, and camped with friends and family, for more than 30 years.
Park County has always been my Colorado without a ski pass.
Professional Summary
In the early 1990s, while teaching kids (maybe yours!) to ski, starting in the attic of my folks’ B&B, I built many of Summit County’s first-generation websites and online reservation systems, helping local businesses adapt to a changing economy.
That early work set the tone for my growing company and career: using technology to solve real problems, support local livelihoods, and make systems work better for the people who depend on them.
I went on to grow my company, to design and lead larger, more complex, and increasingly trusted systems for Colorado businesses and national brands. I sold my company and joined a former client team to transform an 80-year old company at the center of insurance, accelerating the company, industry, and data ecosystem so we can manage new and evolving risks, like wildfire, hurricanes, cyber, cannabis, and AI. This resulted in new products, better information, and uncovered pathways to dramatic opportunities in industry and communities.
My work has focused on bringing people and organizations together to share information safely, protect privacy, and improve accountability—earning patents with IBM, founding national insurance data systems like openIDL, and as a Senior Solutions Architect for the State of Colorado, helping design social health and information systems that protect privacy, serve people first, hold institutions accountable, and cut through bureaucracy.
Continuing consulting for remote and local businesses, and starting an online comic book store of my own, I've stayed connected to community life in Park County.
I work a few days a week at the Even In The End liquor store in Fairplay, and have previously worked at Ace Hardware. In both roles I'm recognized for smiling, listening, pitching in, and solving problems face to face. Please stop by Even in the End! We do bourbon and other tastings on Friday afternoons. Great time for a chat.
Leadership for our county means doing the work, earning trust through honest, timely communication, transparent operations and clear expectations to prepare our rural community for the future—without losing our independence or common sense.
And let's have fun on the way!
